Hostel for Blind and Visually Impaired women

Hostel for Blind women in Kathmandu since 2001

To provide access to higher education for blind and partially sighted women, NAB established a hostel specifically for these students in partnership with the Swedish Association of the Visually Impaired Youth. Initially, the hostel operated in a rented building.

However, since 2021, it has been housed in its own building in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-4, Danchi, Kathmandu, constructed with financial support from the Embassy of Japan and the Government of Nepal. The hostel accommodates up to 50 students and is equipped with facilities including a cook, guard, hostel warden, furniture, internet, purified drinking water, and sufficient water for other uses.

Additionally, the hostel provides accommodation for sighted women to promote an inclusive environment. Students pay a nominal monthly fee for accommodation and manage their own meals at their own expenses.
